Srinagar-Leh highway to remain open till October 31

Srinagar, Oct 17 (UNI) The 434-km Srinagar-Leh National Highway would remain open for two-way vehicular traffic till October 31.

Transport Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen disclosed this at a high-level meeting here, convened to discuss various matters pertaining to the transport sector.

Hakeem Yaseen underscored the need for encouraging bus services within districts for better transport facilities to the people. The transporters issued fresh route permits would be asked to operate in the districts for first two years, he added.

The Minister said the dealers would be asked not to sell any kind of vehicle without proper documents, thus making mandatory obtaining prior route permits and licenses.
