New Delhi, Oct 17: While Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said in South Africa that efforts are on to evolve a 'meaningful consensus' regarding the nuclear deal, the Congress today asserted that the deal has not been put on a cold storage.

"It will not be correct to say that the (Indo-US nuclear) deal has been put on hold or put on the back-burner," said Congress spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed.

He also said that there was no question of Manmohan Singh resigning since the party and the allies have full faith on him.

There have been wide-scale media reports that Singh may quit, after the Congress party had to retreat from its stand on operationalising the bilateral nuclear deal in the wake of Left Front's vehement opposition.

Ahmed dismissed the reports as 'speculations'.
