Multi-crore Customs evasion comes to light

Chennai, Oct 17 (UNI) The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has unearthed multi-crore customs duty evasion by various importers, especially those importing apples, in the city.

A DRI release here today said customs duty evasion for importing apples alone was estimated to be about Rs 2 crore.

A sum of Rs 89 lakhs have been recovered from the defaulting importers, the release added.
