Jaya distributes assistance to families of political victims

Chennai, Oct 17 (UNI) AIADMK General secretary J Jayalalithaa today distributed an assistance of Rs 50,000 each to the families of 22 party workers, who were either murdered by their political adversaries or anti-social elements.

Ms Jayalalithaa distributed the total assistance of Rs 11 lakh to the family members of the victims on the occasion of party's 36th Foundation Day.

To help poor people and students and physically handicapped, the AIADMK leader distributed sewing machines, computers, tri-cycles, iron box, grinder, hearing aid and other electrical apparatus, a party release here said.

The beneficiaries thanked Ms Jayalalithaa for coming out with the assistnace after realising their family conditions, it said.

Earlier, marking the anniversary celebration, Ms Jayalalithaa garlanded the statue of party founder leader and her mentor M G Ramachandran at the party headquarters.

She released anniversary souvenir and party headquarters Secretary K A Sengottayan received the first copy. Ms Jayalalithaa also released a book authored by party Literary wing Secretary Vaigai Selvan on the occasion. Party treasurer O Panneerselvam received the first copy, the release added.
