Haryana earmarks Rs 562 cr for pension schemes

Chandigarh, Oct 17 (UNI) The Haryana government has earmarked a sum of Rs 562.54 crore during the current financial year for providing old age, widow, handicapped and Ladli Social Security monthly pension to 16.07 lakh beneficiaries in the state.

A sum of Rs 301.31 crore has been incurred up to September end on these pension schemes, Haryana Social Welfare Minister Kartar Devi said today.

She said a sum of Rs 371.07 crore had been earmarked to provide old age pension to 10.28 lakh beneficiaries in the state during the current financial year and out of this, a sum of Rs 186.58 crore had already been disbursed.

Similarly, on widow pension to 4.8 lakh beneficiaries in the state, a sum of Rs 86.29 crore had been incurred up to September last.

Ms Kartar Devi maintained that 1.14 lakh beneficiaries were getting handicapped pension in the state and a sum of Rs 26.88 crore had been incurred to provide pension to these beneficiaries.

Similarly, under the Social Security Pension Scheme, a sum of Rs 2 crore had been earmarked and out of this Rs 1.56 crore had already been incurred on providing Social Security Pension to 6804 beneficiaries in the state.

The Minister said the Haryana Government had also decided to undertake the survey of old age pension beneficiaries during the months of November and December, 2007 so that maximum people could get the benefit of this scheme.
