Governor asks police to maintain vigil during Datta Jayanthi

Bangalore, Oct 16 (UNI) Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur today asked the police top brass to strictly maintain law and order during Datta Jayanthi in Chikamagalur next month.

The Governor's instruction assumes significance with BJP proposing to take out 'Shoba Yatre' during the Jayanthi.

According to a release here, Mr Thakur held a meeting with top police officials and discussed the law and order situation in the state.

DG and IGP Srinivasan and other senior police officials attended the meeting.
