Good week in Tea Auction Centre with CTC topping the list

Kolkata, Oct 17 (UNI) Kolkata Tea Market witnessed good sales last week with the CTC variety doing brisk business in tea auction.

The CTC variety's 67,108 packages, weighing a total of 2,064,038.40 kgs, were sold throughout India, especially in Western India. Well made liquoring variety of Assam tea saw good export demand. Tata Tea bought a major portion of the tea auctioned out in this variety.

The Dust variety also saw very good demand with 989,828.40 kgs sold in the last week. Well made Assam tea saw good demand in this section as well. Major Blender and Tata Tea gave good support to both CTC and Dust variety. Western India also had good demand for the Dust variety.

Orthodox variety of tea saw good demand especially in the larger grains and longer leaf types. There was good sales abroad, including the West Asian countries and CIS shippers lent good support.

However, sales in North Indian markets were outpriced.

Darjeeling tea saw good support in its whole leaf section with good sale in the UK and the Continent. Traditional exporters and local packeteers lent good support to the Darjeeling variety.
