Four lakh rupees of Hawala money recovered

Jammu, Oct 17 (UNI) Security forces today recovered Rs four lakh Hawala money from a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) sympathizer near Nagrota in Jammu, official sources said here.

Acting on specific information by Northern Command Military Intelligence, Udhampur, a search was corried out near Nagrota TCP by military intelligence and SOG Jammu, sources said.

During checking of the passengers, one person tried to flee.

However, he was nabbed and Rs four lakh rupees of Hawala money was recovered.

The money was to be delivered to Shaukat, self styled District Commander of LeT and active in Thatri area of Doda, sources added.

The suspect was identified as Mohammad Sadiq Bhat, resident of Thatri, Doda. He was a LeT sympathiser, sources said, adding he revealed he had been working for LeT since 1995 in Thatri and other areas.

Sources further said Sadiq Bhat had received the consignment from another over ground worker called Raja who brought it from Kalyan in Maharashtra. This proves LeT links with other states like Maharashtra, sources added.

The operation was jointly carried out by SOG and Major Vivek Bhardwaj under the supervision of Colonel S S Khara.
