Extortionist impersonating as DJB official held

New Delhi, Oct 17 (UNI) The Delhi Police has arrested a man trying to extort money by impersonating as a Junior Engineer of the Delhi Jal Board.

Navratan Singh was arrested yesterday as he was extorting money from a trader running a readymade garments business in Gandhi Nagar.

Posing himself as Rajesh Tyagi, J.E. of Delhi Jal Board, he asked the trader to deposit Rs 1700/- as road cutting charges, development charges @ Rs. 160/- per square metre and Rs 6000 as penalty.

However, after the behaviour of the person raised doubts, he was asked to show his identity card which he failed to do.

An FIR was registered at the Gandhi Nagar police station and the accused arrested.
