Muktsar, Oct 17 (UNI) The Central Ground Water Board (CGB) has identified 60 villages in Muktsar and Faridkot districts which are facing problems in agriculture due to water logging.

A three member team of CGB today toured the water logged areas of the districts and suggested certain remedial measures for containing these problems.

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Irrigation Minister Janmeja Singh Sekhon and Irrigation Secretary Suresh Kumar accompanied the team on the tour.

Mr Badal assured the CGB team and the people of the water logged area that there would no shortage of funds for tackling the problem that has affected the livelihood of the people.

The CGB has asked the Government to immediately pump out the water from the fields in to the seasonal drains. The team took note of the poor maintenance of the seasonal drains and suggested that these must be cleaned and brick lined.

The team will tour the area tomorrow and thereafter prepare a detailed action plan for the Government.
