BJP to involve activists in governance and administration: Jain

Shimla, Oct 17 (UNI) The BJP today said it will involve party activists in governance and administration after it is returned to power after the two-phase assembly elections on November 14 and December 19, state party incharge Satpal Jain said.

The party would ensure that the activists are involved in the government's administration and governance, he told UNI here over the telephone from Chandigarh.

Referring to the party's ''down to top'' process for the selection of its candidates for the ensuing assembly elections, Mr. Jain said respective party mandal presidents have invited applications from candidates, willing to contest elections, on or before October 31 with a fee of Rs 3,000 for general candidates and Rs 1,500 for SCs and STs.

He said the mandals would forward these applications on or before November five to the district committees, who would forward these to the state election committee on or before November 10.

These recommendations would be forwarded to the consideration of the party's central election committee (CEC) by the third week of next month when the names of the candidates would be announced, he said.

The BJP leader said that the party would hold over 300 public meetings all over state the next month to take its issues to the masses.
