2 killed as train hits truck at unmanned level crossing
Nagpur, Oct 17 (UNI) Two people were killed, when a truck in which they were travelling was hit by a train at an unmanned level crossing near here today.
The Ramtek-Nagpur local train hit the truck as it was trying to go through the crossing at village Dongri, about 40 KM from here, early this morning, a spokesman for South East Central Railway (SECR) told UNI.
The engine and some bogies of the train have been derailed because of the mishap and there was also slight damage to the tracks, the spokesman said.
Rail traffic on the route was disruupted and efforts were on to restore it, he said. Senior officials have rushed to the spot, spokesman added.
The truck was smashed totally in the mishap, and the victims have not been identified yet, police said. One of the victims is the driver of the vehicle, while the other is the cleaner, police added.
