YSR seeks completion of Telugu Ganga work by end 2008

Hyderabad, Oct 16 (UNI)Andhra Pradesh Major Irrigation Minister P Lakshmaiah today said Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had directed the Irrigation Department to complete the Telugu Ganga Project works by the end of 2008.

Reviewing the progress of irrigation projects with officials, the Minister said the govenrment had released 3.6 Tmc ft of drinking water to Chennai through the Telugu Ganga Project so far.

The government had already prepared proposals to construct four railway bridges costing Rs 18.32 crore under the Telugu Ganga Project purview.

The modernisation works of Penna Delta would be taken up by March next year.

The Chief Minister had directed officials to complete irrigation projecta according to schedule while maintaining quality.
