Vaghela for growth of non-woven fabric segment

Mumbai, Oct 16 (UNI) Textile Minister Shankarsinh Vaghela has expressed confidence that India will soon witness a growth in the non-woven fabric sector, for servicing both the domestic market and exports.

Inaugurating an international conference on ''Nonwoven -- the link with India'' here today, Mr Vaghela said non-woven and technical textiles have, in recent years, emerged as the most important, and promising segment.

''This segment has made its presence felt in the US and Europe and has emerged as a very important product base largely due to easy applicability and acceptance in a wide sphere of products'' he added.

He pointed out that non-woven fabrics are now used extensively for civil engineering, automotives, agriculture, clothing footwear, medical appliances and baby care products.
