Rs 14 crore heroin seized on Pak-border, smuggler killed

Amritsar, Oct 16 (UNI) The Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead a Pakistani drug courier and recovered 14 kg heroin worth Rs 14 crore in the international market near Naushera Dhalla village close to the Indo-Pakistan border last night, BSF officials here today claimed.

The officials said that alert BSF ambush parties opened fire on a group of intruders who had crossed the zero line into Indian territory. While one of the intruders, suspected to be a drug courier was killed on the spot, the remaining managed to flee back to Pakistan.

The BSF later recovered 14 packets of the white powder, each weighing one kg. The killed courier had not been identified.

On the instructions of the BSF, the Punjab Police has registered a case at the Serai Amanat Khan police station.
