Officials in vigilance net for food grain scam

Patna, Oct 16 (UNI) The state vigilance investigation bureau has lodged a case against four officials for misusing their office to protect black marketeers of the food grains meant for Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.

Official source said here that a case had been registered against former SDO of East Muzaffarpur, Maharshi Ram, former block supply officer of block in Muzaffarpur Arun Kumar Upadhyaya, Mukhiya of Baghakhal Panchayat Chandra Kishore Singh and a PDS dealer Nand Kishore Singh.

The case was lodged after investigations were carried out by the SP (vigilance) of Muzaffarpur following directives from the court.

According to the charges, the officials induldged in black marketing of food grains allotted for BPL families in the year 2004.

Sources said main accused Maharshi Ram is currently behind bars in connection with the land scam exposed in Bhagwanpur of Muzaffarpur district.
