Mumbai Crime Branch summons three doctors from Chennai

Mumbai, Oct 16 (UNI) Mumbai Crime Branch today summoned three doctors from Chennai for their alleged involvement in the kidney transplant racket there and also asked them to appear before the Crime Branch soon.

The names of the three doctors had cropped from the register of the prime accused after investigations by Crime Branch officials.

The main accused Dr Palani Ramachandran and his four associates have been booked under the Human Organ Transplantation Act and the Income Tax sleuths have recovered Rs 55 lakh from the residence of Ramachandran.

A case against the accused has been registered at the State Human Rights Commission, Chennai a few months ago, the investigations revealed.

The accused, along with his associates, had conducted over 1,000 operations in various hospitals all over the country.

The Mumbai Crime Branch officials have asked the trustees and other officials of the hospitals in Chennai, wherein Ramachandran had conducted the operations to approach them with details and information available with them regarding the operations.
