Hoshiarpur, Oct 16 (UNI) Lawyers of District Courts, Hoshiarpur, Dasuya and Garhshankar abstained from their work on the second consecutive day today to press their demand for discontinuing of mobile court started at Talwara in Dasuya sub division.

Members of the Bar Association of Dasuya have been agitating for discontinuing the mobile court which started on October 2 to provide speedy justice to the people of Kandi area of Dasuya sub division of the district at their doorstep.

The functioning of the mobile court has come to a standstill after eight days of its inauguration, as the lawyers are on strike for its discontinuation since October 11.

According to Dasuya Bar Association president Balbir Singh Gill, the main reason of the opposition of the mobile court by the lawyers are non-availability of oath commissioner, photostat machine, typists judicial papers and forms at the sites of village Jandwal, Kamahi Devi, Hajipur and Talwara where the mobile court is being functioned four days a week.

Besides, there is no security of lawyers and litigants at these places. Moreover, litigants have to visit their offices one day before the hearing of their cases and they have to accompany the lawyers to the site of mobile court on the date of hearing also, Mr Gill added.

''The lawyers have to take adjournment of their cases fixed at the regular courts of Dasuya for appearing in the mobile court. Through this whole process, the justice has become costlier for poor litigants,'' Mr Gill said.
