Jamshedpur, Oct 16 (UNI) The poor codition of NH 33 prompted Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda to initiate action against nine engineers, including Ranchi and Jamshedpur Divisional Executive engineers.

Mr Koda, who was on his way to here by road, to inaugurate the puja pandal of Jharkhand Cooperative minister Dulal Bhuniya last evening, was 'shocked' to see the big wholes in several places of the National highway which connects Jamshedpur to Ranchi.

Mr Koda himself alighted from his car in many places to assess the situation. He was so angry to see the condition of the road that he immediately ordered the suspesion of three engineers and after reaching here the chief minister suspended six other engineers with immediate effect.

Later, talking to newspersons here Mr Koda admitted that the condition of the highway was really poor and observed that despite his order the concerned officials and the engineers had failed to repair the road.

Mr Koda said he deliberately travelled by road instead of using his chopper to inspect the condition of NH 33 with his own eyes.

He said those who neglected their duties would not be spared. Out the of 1600 km strech of NH 33, condition of 500 km was extermely bad.

The chief minister said action would also be taken against the contractors, who were entrusted to complete the repairng work in time and their contracts would be cancelled.
