India, Pak to discuss Conventional,Nuclear CBMs on Oct 18 and 19

New Delhi, Oct 16 (UNI) India and Pakistan will hold talks on Conventional and Nuclear Confidence-Building Measures (CBMs) here on October 18 and 19.

The two sides will review the implementation of the existing agreements, security issues in multi-lateral fora and new CBMs, the External Affairs Ministry said here today.

Arrangements to deal with Inadvertent border crossers, an Agreement on Prevention of Incidents at Sea and other CBMs would be discussed.

''The discussions will focus on review of the implementation of existing Agreements and Security issues in multi-lateral fora. Both existing and new CBMs will also be discussed,'' the Ministry said.

The meeting on Conventional CBMs will be held on October 18 while the Nuclear CBMs will be discussed on October 19.

The Indian delegation at the talks on Conventional CBMs will be led by Mr TCA Raghavan, Joint Secretary (PAI), in the Ministry of External Affairs and the Pakistan side by Mr Aizaz Ahmed Choudhary, Director General (South Asia).

The Indian delegation includes representatives of Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Home Affairs.

For the Nuclear CBMs, the Indian delegation will be led by Mr KC Singh, Additional Secretary (IO), in Ministry of External Affairs and the Pakistan side by Mr Khalid Aziz Babar, Additional Secretary (UN and EC), of the Paksistan Foreign Ministry.

The Indian delegation at the talks for Nuclear CBMs will include representatives from the Defence Ministry, Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), National Security Council Secretariat and DRDO.
