Haj: Demand to scrap lottery system

Ujjain, MP, Oct 16 (UNI) Central Haj Committee former Chairman and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Tanveer Ahmed today demanded that the Centre should immediately scrap the lottery system for embarking on Haj.

''The system was done away during the predecessor National Democratic Alliance government and whoever applied was sent. Since the United Progressive Alliance regime assumed the reins, people are facing difficulties in this regard. The Committee should not rely on private tour operators,'' he told newspersons here.

During his tenure, several types of complaints were received against the operators and action was proposed, Mr Ahmed added.
