'Friendship Club' busted, operator arrested

Lucknow, Oct 16 (UNI) The special task force of Uttar Pradesh police today busted a 'Friendship Club' here and arrested its operator for allegedly duping several persons of lakhs of rupees.

Official sources said Naresh Srivastava, a resident of Aminabad locality, was arrested from Aliganj area.

Naresh had kept several aliases to deceive and dupe persons, sources claimed.

A total of Rs 4.75 lakh in cash, 14 ATM cards of various banks, nine mobile SIM cards, cheque books and seal and other documents were seized from his possession.

Someone had complained about him by sending an anonymous letter to the UP DGP. An investigation of the various mobile phone numbers and bank accounts advertised in the Club's newspaper ads revealed, that a single person was operating them under different names.

The accused used to advertise his 'New Life Friendship Club' in newspapers and collect Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 from interested persons for making friends.

The gullible persons used to deposit the amount in the different bank accounts mentioned by the accused.

Further investigations were on.
