EPIC must for assembly elections in Rajkot

Rajkot, Oct 16 (UNI) Voters here will not be allowed to exercise their franchise without Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

Addressing mediapersons here today, district collector Pradip Sharma said voters will have to produce EPIC before the presiding officer at the time of casting their vote in Rajkot district on December 11.

He said, at present, over 85 per cent of the electorate in the district have been issued identity cards and added that the process would be completed in due course.

The district collector said the code of conduct would be strictly enforced and action taken against the violators.

Hoardings, depicting government achievments and other schemes, have already been removed from the public places, the collector said adding that private owners have the right to display hoarding at their private places.
