APP appointed to examine quality of 'prasadam'

Vijayawada, Oct 16 (UNI) The third Metropolitan Magistrate Court here today appointed Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) to examine the quality of the 'laddu' and 'tamrind rice prasadam' being distributed at the Kanakadurga temple during 'Navarathri'.

The magistrate Rajagopala Rao pronounced the order, while hearing a petition on distribution of 300 packets of stale tamarind rice prasadam two days ago, filed by city-based advocate B Nageswara Rao.

The APP was asked to submit a report on October 18.

The petition was filed under the Public Health Act 1939 of Sections 38 and 108.

The temple Chairman P Narayana Reddy and Executive Officer (EO) S Chandrasekhar Azad failed to appear before the court today, despite the court's direction.

The magistrate passed orders stating the EO to be compulsorily present before the court on october 18 and adjourned the case till that date.
