3 killed as train runs over them

Kochi, Oct 16 (UNI) Three people were killed when a train ran over them around midnight last night here.

Police said here today the victims, believed to be labourers from Orissa, were hit by the Palakkad-Trivandrum Amritha Express, were walking on a railway track when they jumped to another track after they noticed the Pune Express coming their way.

The identity of the trio was yet to be ascertained. However, a diary bearing the name of Nibas Kumar Nayak, Khurda District, Orissa, was found in the pocket of one of them.

The bodies were kept in the mortuary at Ernakulam General Hospital.
