Tripura police start combing operation against ultras

Agartala, Oct 15 (UNI) The police today launched a combing operation to thwart an anti-government movement at Gandacherra town of South Tripura where a blast last evening injured six people.

Superintendent of Police (Operations) Nepal Das said besides deployment of additional forces, frisking of vehicles on the highway was continuing to check entry of suspected ultras, who had given a call to observe ''Black Day' today to protest merger of Tripura and Manipur half a century ago.

''There is no report of any threat perception from the militants.

But we are alert against any possible attempt to disturb public life'', Das said.

The condition of the injured persons had improved and two out of six were released from the hospital. About six persons, including a woman, were seriously injured in the bomb blast at Gandacherra market.
