AIADMK agitates against rising cost of building materials

Chennai, Oct 15 (UNI) The Opposition AIADMK today staged a demonstration in front of the Memorial Hall here, protesting against the rise in prices of building materials.

Cadres, led by party legislators P K Sekar Babu and V P Kalairajan, carried building materials like brick, sand, steel and cement on their heads to highlight the plight of the construction industry.

They raised slogans against the DMK government and the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre for their ''failure'' to contain the prices of building materials and other essential commodities.

The hike in prices of building materials had adversely affected the construction industry and had rendered a large number of construction workers jobless, they said.
