Six killed, 20 others injured in bomb explosion in cinema hall

Ludhiana, Oct 14 (UNI) Six cinemagoers were killed and 20 others injured in a powerful bomb blast in a cinema hall in the heart of this industrial town of Punjab tonight.

According to SP (detective) Gurpreet Singh three persons, including a child died on the spot while remaining three died on the way to the CMC hospital. The injured have been admitted to the CMC hospital.

Reports said that the blast took place at 2045 hours in the main hall of the 'Shingar' theatre where a Bhojpuri film 'Janam Janam Ka Saath Hai' was being screened.

The Shingar theatre consists of three hall-- Shingar, Mini Shingar and Midhi Shingar. A majority of the victims are migrated labourers who had come to see the Bhojpuri film in a large numbers as today being a holiday (Sunday).

Senior Police officials are at the spot and a forensic team has been summoned to determine the nature of the blast.

Punjab assembly Deputy Speaker Satpal Gosain also visited the spot and later went to the CMC hospital to inquire about the condition of the injured.
