Muslims in Meghalaya celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with religious fervour

Shillong, Oct 14 (UNI) The festival of Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of the Islamic fasting month of Ramzan, was today celebrated with due solemnity and religious fervour across Meghalaya.

Muslims gathered in large numbers and offered prayers at the various mosques and Idgahs and exchanged greetings.

The main Eid congregation was held at Laban, Mawprem and Fire Brigade Idgahs in the city as well as other mosques spread throughout the state.

Eid was also celebrated in Mahendraganj, Phulbari, Rajabala, Ampati, Resubelpara in Garo Hills, Dawki and Lad Rymbai in Jaintia hills, Umiam and Nongpoh in Ri-bhoi district of Meghalaya.

Police said the festivities passed off peacefully at all places.

Besides, people of other religions also greeted their Muslim brethren.
