Bhiwani, Oct 14 (UNI) Haryana Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dharmvir Singh today welcomed the recent decisions of the UPA Government taken for the welfare of the people saying that these decisions would have far reaching positive results.

The priority of both the Centre and State Governments was to uplift the status of poor, farmers and the needy.

While stating this here today, Mr Singh said that after the implementation of Employment Guarantee Scheme by the UPA government in the country, the announcement of new Rehabilitation Policy for the farmers would prove a new milestone to protect their interests.

He also welcomed the decision of the Centre to extend the subsidy on LPG and Kerosene for another three years and said that this decision would provide great relief to the poor and needy.

The decision not to hike the petrol and diesel prices this year was also a significant decision which would directly benefit the agriculture sector and people of middle and lower strata of society.

Mr Dharmvir said that according to the provisions of the Rehabilitation Policy, the farmers whose land would be acquired for Special Economic Zones would have partnership in the projects which would be set up in these zones. In view of the land holdings becoming smaller, this policy would also prove helpful in encouraging the rural people and farmers to become self-reliant by setting up their own ventures, he said.

The Chief Parliamentary Secretary also appreciated the provisions of the policy to constitute Rehabilitation Commission to ensure that the interests of farmers were protected.
