Uttar Pradesh: Prisoner commits suicide

Agra, Oct 13: A prisoner allegedly committed suicide by hanging in the Agra Central Jail here last night, officials today said.

Jail Superintendent Ambrish Gaud said Devi Singh (24) hanged himself from an iron grill on the second floor of the prison.

Meanwhile, fellow inmates raised an alarm and Singh was rushed to the jail hospital, but he succumbed.

He was serving the jail term for the last one year in a sexual assault case.

Mental tension was said to be the reason behind the crime.
