Rs 7 lakh stolen, 3 arrested

Nashik, Oct 13 (UNI) Three people have been arrested for robbing Rs 7 lakh from a house in old Gangapur naka area of the city.

According to police, one Malot Jamesy Daniel (71), resident of Thakkar Ritz, Padmja row house in old Gangapur naka area of the city, had filed a complaint that some unidentified persons had stolen Rs 7 lakh kept in a cupboard in his house yesterday. The thieves broke into the house by cutting the iron rods of the kitchen window.

In the investigation police found nothing except the cash amount that was stolen from the house. This led the police to conclude that the robbers were aware of the money and it could be a handiwork of some known persons. Following this, police inquired about the relatives of Mr. Daniel.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided some places in the city during the wee hours of today and arrested three persons, Tony John Advale (21), sunil sampat Sutar (18) both resident of Bethel nagar, Canada corner area and Arjun Ramchandra Gahire (19) resident of Sahwas nagar Mumbai naka.

Police sized Rs. 3,25,000 cash from their possession.

It came to light that Tony Advale is the grand son of Mr. Daniel.

He was aware of the money and its whereabout and with the help of his friends he had planned to steal the money.

A case has been registered under section 454, 380 of the IPC. Further investigations are on in this matter.
