Rs 20 lakh gold jewellery recovered from hardcore criminal

Amritsar, Oct 13 (UNI) The police today nabbed a hardcore criminal and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 20 lakh from his possession, Amritsar Rural SSP Iqbal Singh said here.

According to the SSP, the police intercepted a car being driven by Rajbir Raja, a hardcore criminal near Mahespur village. During search of the car, the cops found gold ornaments valued at Rs 20 crore, the SSP claimed.

Preliminary interrogation of the criminal revealed that the ornaments had been extorted from a well known jeweller of the city after kidnapping him. Three other members of Raja's gang are still at large.
