Kanti Koli is new Thane city-district Congress president

Thane, Oct 13 (UNI) Former MLA Kanti Koli has been appointed as the new Thane city (district) Congress president.

The appointment of Mr Koli has laid to rest the battle for supremacy between former president Subash Kanade and outgoing president Balkrishna Purnekar which had affected the party's prospects.

The Congress Central leadership intervened and, in consultation with the state leadership, decided to appoint Mr Koli who is a non-controversial figure.

Mr Koli is considered to be a close confidante of former Chief Minister A R Antulay.
