Indian railways to implement Bullet trains soon: Velu

Chennai, Oct 13 (UNI) Minister of State for Railways R Velu today said Bullet trains will soon become a reality in India with several states, including Tamil Nadu, evincing keen interest.

Addressing a seminar on HR Fusion organised by the Department of Management Studies, University of Madras and Indian Bank here, Mr Velu said Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana and West Bengal wanted the railways to implement the Bullet train project, which would reduce the travelling time considerably.

The Railway Ministry also formed a special purpose vehicle to implement the 3,000-km-long dedicated freight corridor between Delhi to Mumbai and Ludhiana to Kolkata, at a cost of Rs 30,000 crore in the first stage. In the second stage, Chennai to Goa, Delhi and Kolkata would be considered.
