Goods train derails; disrupts rail traffic

Bikaneer, Oct 13 (UNI) Rail traffic on the Surajgarh-Bikaneer section of the northwest railways was disrupted after a goods train running between Arjunsar-Rajiyasar jumped the rails early this morning.

According to railways sources, 38 bogies of the goods train, returning to Jaislamer after unloading coal at Surajgarh, derailed at about 0455 hrs.

The sources said 18 bogies and about one km of rail line was damaged in the accident.

A relief team from Jodhpur and Bathinda reached the scene and efforts were on to restore traffic on the route.

Trains on the route were diverted.
