BJP stages dharna against Govt in Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 13: The Delhi Pradesh BJP today organised a dharna at Daryaganj, as part of its movement against the Government on the price spiral and Blueline buses.

Addressing protestors, Delhi Pradesh BJP president Harsh Vardhan said the lives of people of Delhi was in danger.

''They are not being provided even the basic amenities and Sheila Dikshit is falsely claiming to make this city as a world class city,'' he said.

Alleging that the Delhi Government was protecting the Mall lobby, Dr Harsh Vardhan said, ''the state government wants to finish the retail trade. Due to this people are not being given amnesty so that the big people may prosper and the daily earners may have to leave Delhi.'' He said the Chief Minister had announced in July that the Blueline buses would be taken off the roads.

''Now she is bent upon violating the orders of the Court and the Lieutenant Governor. She has clearly stated that Delhi Government has no alternative for the Blueline buses. If the Lt Governor has any alternative then he can provide it,'' he said.

Alleging that it was due to the corruption at the Government level that Blueline buses running on the roads of Delhi did not care about laws and rules, the Delhi BJP chief said, ''every department of the Delhi Government is corrupt. People have not forgotten Ashok Malhotra case. The Rehri-Patri shopkeepers have also been displaced. The Delhi Government has also made preparations to remove the most ancient markets of walled city out of Delhi. In the name of making Yamuna free from pollution, thousands of jhuggies have been removed.''

He said the workers of Bhogal and Lajpat Nagar Mandals would stage a foot march in protest against price spiral and terror of Blueline buses tomorrow. Day after tomorrow the effigies of the Chief Minister will be burnt at Kotla Mubarakpur and Kasturba Nagar. On this occasion Deputy Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Prof Vijay Kumar Malhotra and many senior leaders will be present.
