CPI(ML) naxal surrenders

Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, Oct 13 (UNI) A Dalam member of the CPI(ML) Prathighatana group surrendered before the District Superintendent of Police.

Informing this newspersons here today, Superintendent of Police Soumya Mishra, before whom the 25-year-old naxal Shyamakuri Srinu alias Naganna surrendered by handing over his 'Springfield,' an assualt weapon and 46 rounds of ammunitions, said the insurgent was a native of Kothapet village in Bayyaram mandal of Khammam district.

She said Srinu joined the group a year ago due to family dispute. However, fed up with the underground life and learning about the 'Velugu Bata' programme (rehabilation) conducted by the Waranagal Police, he approached the police and surrendered himself.

Renewing her appeal to the extremists to join the mainstream, she said the Police department was ready to help those willing to surrender and lead a normal life.
