Centre's "Retreat" on nuke deal pathetic: Swamy
Chennai, Oct 13 (UNI) Janata Party President Dr Subramanian Swamy today said the ''retreat'' by the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre on the Indo-US nuclear deal was ''pathetic and sullied the credibility of India''.
In a statement here, he said the ''capitulation'' to the Left Front Parties came after a series of statements by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, asking the Left to ''lump it or leave''.
''Therefore, this somersault has brought the nation international disrepute and derision'', he said, adding he was, however, against the nuclear deal as there was no clause in it to commit the US to recognise India as a nuclear weapons state.
