Akali leader injuries two in firing incident

Amritsar, Oct 13 (UNI) A Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader today opened fire in Mehta village in Amritsar Rural police district injuring a young girl and her brother.

According to police sources, Baljit Singh, circle jathedar of the SAD went to the residence of Sandeep Singh in the village and opened fire on the family members inside. Mandeep Kaur and her brother Sukhdev Singh sustained bullet injuries in the incident and were admitted to a hospital here.

Rajbir Singh, son of the jathedar was also injured in the firing.

However the police was yet to ascertain the nature of injuries to the Akali leaders son.

The families of Sandeep Singh and Baljit Singh were involved in a land dispute. The police are investigating the matter and would register a case later.
