2 drowned while fixing motor for agricultural purposes

Kolhapur, Oct 13 (UNI) Two youth were drowned in the Panchaganga river following discharge of electricity through the water.

The incident happened at village Terwad in Shirol tehsil of this district this afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Sandeep Vasant Mali (25) and Ravindra Dadu Mali (22).

The two were on a wooden float trying to fix an electric motor for agricultural purposes. They had taken a connection from the river bank and the live wire touched the water which caused an electric discharge through the water. This led the two to receive electric shocks and they were thrown into the river and were drowned, police said.

The body of Sandeep was recovered but Ravindra's body has not been found so far, police said.
