TN leaders extend Ramzan greetings

Chennai, Oct 12 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor S S Barnala, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa and leaders of various parties today greeted the Muslim brethren on the eve of Id-ul-Fitr (Ramzan).

In his message here, Mr Barnala said ''on the occasion of Ramzan, I convey my heartiest greetings to all Muslim brothers and sisters.

Let the festival of breaking the fast rekindle the spirit of sacrifice, self-control and promotion of love and brotherhood. May the festival usher in peace, harmony and mutual affinity.'' Greeting the Muslims on the occasion, Mr Karunanidhi said the Muslims should be doubly happy this year as the Government had conceded their long pending demand of providing 3.5 per cent exclusive reservation in education and Government jobs.

''Let the festival, marking the end of fast, usher in peace and prosperity in the lives of Muslims,'' he added.

In her greetings, Ms Jayalalithaa said let the festival usher in more peace and promote a sense of unity.

TNCC President M Krishnasamy, MDMK General Secretary Vaiko and BJP leader S Thirunavukkarasar also greeted Muslims on the occasion.
