Teenager sacrifices tongue to placate Goddess on Navratri

Jalaun, Oct 12 (UNI) In a shocking incident, a teenage girl allegedly sacrificed her tongue to propitiate Goddess Kali on the first day of the nine-day Shardiya Navratri at a temple here today.

The bizarre ritual took place at village Babai, where Manju (16) went to pay obeisance to Maa Kali at an ancient temple on Babai-Jalaun highway. Wherein, she offered her tongue to the Goddess after cutting it with a blade.

The eyewitnesses said notwithstanding grievously injured, she continued to offer prayers at the temple.

The severely wounded could only be admitted to hospital after police reached the spot.

According to police, the girl was still not out of danger and being treated at the emergency ward.
