Kolkata, Oct 12 (UNI) The condition of Suchitra Sen, the Bengali screen goddess of yesteryear, improved today, doctors attending on her said.
'' She has responded to a revised dose of antibiotics and her fever has subsided. She is much better now and doing fine,'' they added.
According to the sources in the nursing home, she had her breakfast and a light lunch.
The doctors said though initially it was suspected that Mrs Sen was suffering from urinary track infection, investigation reports proved negative.
Kolkata Mayor Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharjee visited Mrs Sen during the day and inquired about her health.
The 76-year-old actor was admitted to the nursing home on October 9.
Her daughter and noted actor Moon Moon Sen, had been visiting her since then.
The Tollywood heart throb mesmerised generations through the fifties and seventies with her grace, charm, enigma and powerful acting and made history in Bengali filmdom by pairing with matinee idol Uttam Kumar in a host of hit films that made them a legendary duo.
