Student arrested for bomb threat to school

Puducherry, Oct 12 (UNI) A class nine student was today arrested in connection with a bomb hoax in a private school at Thondamannatham last month.

Talking to newspersons here, Senior Superintendent of Police (C&I) B Srikanth said the bomb threat was given to the school four times last month, which proved to be a hoax. The school authorities then lodged a complaint with the police.

Tracing the phone number on the Caller-ID, police nabbed the student Raja (14) of the school. On interrogation, the boy confessed to stealing two cell phones from a car parked in a swimming pool at Pathukkannu near here.

Raja, used the cell phone with BSNL simcard for the threat, while keeping the other one with Airtel simcard by switching it off. The threat was given to enable the school to declare a holiday, Mr Srikanth added.

The student was later produced before the Judicial Magistrate-2 Krishnasamy.
