Security ramped up in UP with festivities round the corner

Lucknow, Oct 12 (UNI) Security has been stepped up across Uttar Pradesh in view of the coming festival season and bomb blast at Ajmer Sharif yesterday.

Official sources said here with terror threat looming large on the forthcoming Durga Puja and Eid, the district administration has identified seven most sensitive districts and subsequently, unprecedent security arrangements have been made at all busy public places, including temples, railway stations and bus terminals.

According to the information received from Agra Police Superintendent Navin Arora, cops in strength had been deployed around the world famous Taj Mahal.

Besides, high alert had been sounded in the division, following the Ajmer blast.

The borders surrounding the Taj city had been sealed and only after through brisk checking, tourists are being allowed to enter the city. Police is keeping round the clock vigil at the railway stations and bus terminals.

Following Eid-ul-fitr, the Taj Mahal would be shut for locals on October 14 from 0730 hrs to 1030 hrs.

In Faizabad, owing to Shardiya Navratri, Durga Puja and Eid festivals, tight security arrangements had also been made at the disputed Ram Janmabhoomi and other ancient temples of the holy city.

For maintaining an extra vigil and counter any untoward incident, plain clothed armed commandoes would keep round the clock eye on the nine-day Navratri Mela at the famous Maa Vindhyavasini Devi shrine in Mirzapur.

Besides, a large number of police and PAC had been deployed at the ancient and popular temples and mosques of Mathura, Varanasi and Allahabad.
