Salem attends mother's funeral amid tight security

Azamgarh, Oct 12 (UNI) Underworld mafia don Abu Salem attended the funeral of his mother Janutun Nisha amid heavy police presence at his native village Saraimeer here today.

The don, presently lodged in the Mumbai jail for involvement in the 1993 Mumbai contemporaneous blasts case, was brought aboard the general compartment of the Mumbai-Varanasi Mahanagri Express under heavy police custody early this morning and later brought to Azamgarh by road.

Sources said Salem attended the funeral at his residence in Pathantola locality at 1500 hrs. After 'Janaze ki Namaz' at Madarsa Islamia Baitul Uloom, the body was buried at Supurd-e-khak park.

Later at around 1800 hrs, the Don was taken to the Azamgarh jail from where he will be taken to Varanasi under tight security tomorrow morning.

Thereafter, Salem would be taken to Mumbai Jail under the heavy police security.
