Mumbai, Oct 12 (UNI) The Rupee today ended weaker by nearly 6 paise at 39.3650 against US Dollar as compared to the previous close of 39.30 per dollar.

The local unit made a firm start today at 39.28 per dollar and traded in a broad range of 39.28-45 per dolar before closing weaker in an active inter-bank foreign exchange (Forex) maket, dealers said.

Dealers said that strong inflows and abstinence of the Reserve Bank from the forex market largely favoured the unit despite a bearish Sensex which opened nearly 20 points down from the previous close.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today fixed the reference rate at Rs 39.33 per US Dollar. The reference rate was down by two paise as compared to yesterday's rate of Rs 39.31 per USD.

The six months premium closed at 1.98 (1.80) per cent while annualised premium ended at 1.45 (1.54) per cent.

The Indian currency traded stronger today against major world currencies. Against euro, it ended high at 55.50 (55.79) per unit, against Pound Sterling, it closed firm at 79.43 (80.06) per unit, while Japanese currency (Yen) was quoted at 33.35 (33.41) per hundred units.
