Panipat , Oct 12 (UNI) The police today claimed to have linked events leading to the much-publicised murder of Gohana Balmiki youth Rakesh alias Lara on August 27, which had caused widespread violence in the area.

According to SSP Navdeep Singh Virk, the interrogation of the seven alleged accused in Lara murder case revealed that they had come into contact while serving various terms in jail.

The alleged accused were Prahlad of Chhudani, Dinesh alias Dinu of Khanda, Ashok of Birdhana, Dinesh of Murlana, Naresh alias Neshi of Busana, Sanjay of Butana and Ram Niwas also of Murlana.

According to Mr Virk, Prahlad who was undergoing life term in Karnal jail in a murder case, developed friendship with Sanjay and Neshi. Sanjay had entrusted Prahlad with the task of eliminating Lara, with whom he had some personal enmity. Prahlad jumped parole when he came out in April.

Later, during one of his meetings with Sanjay in Karnal jail, Sanjay informed Prahlad that he should get in touch with Dinu, who was also out on parole from Rohtak jail.

They met at the shop of Dinesh in Murlana and hatched the plan to murder Lara according to which Prahlad, Neshi and Ashok were to kill Lara. The arms and vehicle was to be arranged by Prahlad and Dinu and Neshi was given the responsibility to provide protection and identify Lara.

On August 25, Prahlad, Ashok and Dinu assembled at Bhindawas.

Prahlad and Ashok were provided with arms by Dinu and sent to Gohana in a car where Neshi joined them.

On August 27, Prahlad, Neshi and Ashok met at the residence of Raju on Baroda Road and left together in search for Lara.
