Mortal remains of S R Bommai laid to rest

Hubli, Oct 12 (UNI) The mortal remains of former Karnataka Chief Minister and senior leader of the Janata pariwar, S R Bommai, was laid to rest at his farm here today.

A large number of people made a beeline to the burial site.

The body was brought to the city last night passing through Haveri, Hulguru, Kamdolli, Shirur and Kundagol, where he started and pursued his political career.

People offered flowers on the body through out the procession that began in the city from his residence, where it was kept to enable public to pay their last respects.

Maharashtra governor S M Krishna, Janaga Dal(U) National President Sharad Yadav, State JD(U) President B Somashekhar, BJP leaders Anantkumar, Prahlad Joshi, Jagadish Shettar, leader of opposition in the state council H K Patil, former JD(S) ministers Basavaraj Horatti, M P Prakash and Congress leader R V Deshapnade were among the prominent personalities who visited Mr Bommai's residence and paid their last respect.

The last rites was performed in the presence of several seers and his son Basavaraj Bommai. The body was buried beside the tomb of his wife Gangamma Bommai, who had died earlier.
